Surf School and Field Manager
Peninsula Outdoors offers an immersive school camp experience in the heart of the Mornington Peninsula, specialising in quality aquatic programs where groups can explore marine environments and learn skills, including snorkelling, kayaking and surfing.
Due to rapid growth, Peninsula Outdoors is seeking a highly motivated and experienced outdoor professional to join our expanding team.

Position Overview:
The primary aim of this role is to provide senior activity leadership and experiential learning across a range of activities available on and off-site. This role involves planning, leading, and facilitating sessions, including briefing, de-briefing, and supervising participants. The Senior Activity Leader is also responsible for preparing venues and equipment and overseeing day-to-day in-field operations.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Tertiary qualifications in Outdoor Education/Recreation or related fields
- Three to five years of successful experience in a similar role
- Ability to mentor, coordinate, train, and supervise staff
- Peak body qualifications in relevant Outdoor Education disciplines
- Bronze Medallion OR equivalent
- Surf Instructor Level 1 Qualification OR equivalent
- Snorkel Guide Qualification OR willingness to obtain
- Experience in both center-based and journey programs
- Minimum 3-day remote first aid certification
- Relevant licenses/certifications (e.g., heavy vehicle license) OR willingness to obtain

Other Requirements

- Satisfactory completion of a National Criminal History Check
- Flexibility in working hours, including weekends and evenings
- Travel within Victoria
- Current driver’s license
- Willingness to participate in journey and overnight programs and duty roster

Key Accountabilities and Activities
Delivering Program Services
- Understand group needs and objectives
- Assist with coordinating logistics of activity programs
- Set up equipment and prepare activities
- Deliver programs ensuring best practices and regulatory compliance
- Assist the Management Team to manage client groups
Staffing
- Mentor, coordinate, train, and supervise staff
- Conduct regular briefs and debriefs with program staff
- Assist with advertising, recruiting, and onboarding new staff

Surf School

Recruit, induct & train staff

Roster sessions to maintain ratio

Choose surf locations based on weather, swell, environmental factors as well as participant ability

Perform stock inventory, maintenance & ordering

Maintain equipment and vehicle presentation & cleanliness

Plan & develop surf sessions to clients requirements

Develop and grow holiday camps & programs

Respond to and book public and private surf enquiries for holiday and weekend bookings

Manage online bookings and classes

Oversea all day to day operations of the Surf School

Facilitate; Surfing, Stand Up Paddleboarding, Boogey Boarding & Water/Surf Safety sessions

Coordinate logistics of multiple vehicles, equipment and trailers

Increase growth of business by offering multiple venues & classes simultaneously ie Wilsons Prom

Seek further business growth opportunities

Intra-state travel within Victoria to manage and facilitate programs

Maintain qualifications ie First Aid, CPR, Surf Qualifications

$65,000 - $85,000 + Super dependent on skills and experience. ​
